Our client's home in Luxembourg had a common problem found in many older or poorly insulated houses: little or no attic insulation. This resulted in substantial heat loss, particularly in winter when temperatures fell. The heat loss not only increased the homeowner's energy consumption and costs but also left the occupants feeling cold despite the heating.
The work carried out at our client's home has transformed an area that was once a source of energy loss into an efficient, insulated space. By using wood-fibre panels, the project combines environmental responsibility, durability and energy efficiency. The work has reduced the home's energy consumption while considerably improving the occupants' thermal and acoustic comfort. This project reflects a modern, responsible approach to energy renovation and, in line with high standards of quality and sustainability.
Initial assessment and project background
The attic is one of the main areas through which a building loses heat, especially when it is not properly insulatedAt our client's home, the existing insulation proved insufficient or even ineffective, creating a weak point in the thermal envelope that directly affected the house's energy performance.
To address this situation, wood-fibre panels were selected to insulate the attic. Widely recognised for its natural insulating performance, this material not only reduces heat loss effectively but is also an environmentally friendly and sustainable choice. Wood fibre is a renewable material with excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties. It helps maintain a comfortable indoor temperature in winter by retaining heat, while also protecting against overheating in summer.
