Our client's home in Luxembourg has a problem common to many properties: a poorly insulated attic. This lack of insulation causes significant heat loss during winter, increasing the energy required to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. Conversely, in summer, an uninsulated attic leads to overheating in the home, making the indoor environment uncomfortable. The aim of our client's eco-friendly attic insulation project was therefore to improve the home's energy performance while optimising thermal comfort throughout the year.
This eco-friendly attic insulation project forms part of a sustainable and responsible approach. By using natural, high-performance materials, the project provides a solution that is both environmentally responsible and thermally efficient. The attic, previously a source of heat loss, has become an optimised space that improves the home's energy performance while ensuring thermal comfort throughout the year. Initial assessment and project background
The attic is a key area for a home's thermal insulation. The team therefore chose to insulate the attic with environmentally responsible, and durable and thermally efficient materials. This approach offers two benefits: it improves the home's thermal performance while reducing the project's environmental footprint through the use of renewable and recyclable materials. Eco-friendly materials such as wood fibre and cellulose wadding are particularly well suited to regulating indoor temperatures and providing optimal thermal comfort in both summer and winter.
Project objectives
